In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a method in which the embryo creation takes place outside the body. In this method, the egg cells are fertilized by the sperm inside a glass tube (hence, the name ‘in-vitro’) outside the uterus. The egg cells in question are collected from the female donor after ovulation is regulated through hormone balancing under the supervision of your physician. As a next step, the sperm are mixed with the egg cells in a liquid to allow fertilization. Lastly, these egg cells are transferred back to the uterus to possibly create pregnancy. IVF is a five-step process:
Abacioglu Kadin Sagligi Merkezi collaborates with the Florance Nightingale Metropolitan Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey, to offer its patients the most successful IVF service by using the most up-to-date technologies in this field. Therefore, whereas the first and the last steps of the IVF procedure are offered in our clinic, Gaziosmanpasa, Istanbul; the second, third, and the fourth are overseen at the Florance Nightingale Hospital Laboratories under the supervision of Dr. Tugrul Abacioglu with the Abacioglu Kadin Sagligi medical team. Before the initiation of the process, both male and the female donor are tested for Hepatitis B and C as well as for HIV and other contagious illnesses. These tests are followed by the first step of the IVF process in which follicular cell production is triggered by supervised hormone intake (FSH or LH hormones). Every other day, these egg follicles are measured under the ultrasound. Furthermore, the estrogen levels of the patient are tested regularly which is needed to follow the growth of these cells more precisely. After the follicles reach the desired size, a Pregnyl injection is used to generate ovulation. 36 hours after the injection, the second step of the IVF procedure is followed in which these egg cells are retrieved from the female donor under general anesthesia in the IVF Center of Florance Nightingale Metropolitan Hospital by Dr. Tugrul Abacioglu. These egg cells are fertilized by the sperm collected from the male donor under the supervision of Embryology specialist Cihan Halicigil in the laboratories of the hospital. Grown embryos are selected from this mix and then transferred to the uterus of the aspiring mother. Please refer to www.kadinsagligi.com for further information on this subject.
